It was too special, too vital to her now to let anyone or anything tell her she had to give it up, for any reason." As I read that, it struck me as undeniably true. I think what I most appreciated was when Laura bandaged his ribs: he buried his face in her neck and murmured her name; she kissed him on the shoulder.
